Dolomites throughout the world

The Dolomites are unique, like no other mountains, and it should come as no surprise to learn that UNESCO has designated them a World Heritage Site. For all the citizens of the world who have left their Dolomite homes to seek their fortunes elsewhere, the Dolomites still have a magical hold over them. Many associations of emigrants throughout the world maintain ties and enjoy exchanges with their homeland.

The Association Bellunesi nel Mondo (ABM) was founded in 1966 to provide moral and cultural support and to help emigrants and former emigrants from Belluno in their search for a job. The association has more than 100 circles abroad, called Famiglie Bellunesi, and around 20 of former emigrants in the Province of Belluno, Famiglie ex emigranti, for a total of about 7.000 members all over the world, where these “Families” represent centers where to meet other people from the Belluno area and find support from them.

Ente Friuli nel Mondo is a private, non-profit organization founded in Udine in 1953 and officially recognized by the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia. The organization promotes connections and links with Friulians residing in Italy and around the world by organizing several initiatives, sometimes also in cooperation with member associations, called “Fogolâr Furlan” and “Famee Furlane”.

The Association Trentini nel Mondo was created in 1957 with a social solidarity aim and as an instrument of union and assistance for the Trentino migrants and their descendants. Among the promoters, it counts the Chamber of Commerce of Trento, the Fondazione Comunità Solidale, the Italian Christian workers’ society, the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Trento e Rovereto, and the Cooperative Movement in Trentino. From 1998 the association has been an ONLUS, i.e. a non-profit organization.
