The accessible viewpoint of Grostè Pass lies at an altitude of 2500 metres on a large karst plateau in the heart of the Brenta Group. The plateau is made up of limestone and dolomite rock, sedimentary rocks that were deposited between 250 and 60 million years ago. The arid landscape is an indication of its geomorphology, as it has large stratified deposits, a reminder of the seabed which these rocks originated from, surrounded by scree and debris, testimony of how freezing, melting and gravity gave these mountains their shape. Here the layers of the giant Pietra Grande spur on one side and the powerful towers of Cima Grostè, Cima Falkner and Campanile dei Camosci on the other can be admired from close up. The plateau is surrounded on all sides, giving views over the whole of the northern part of the Group, from the peaks towering over Val di Tovel (Pietra Grande, Cima Vagliana, Corno di Flavona and Cima Tuena) and Val di Non (Cima Val Scura, Termoncello, Cima Santa Maria) with Turrion Alto and Turrion Basso in the centre.
The Grostè Pass is accessed directly from Fortini by the Grostè cable car. The cable car has two sections – Grostè 1 and Grostè 2. At the middle station, in Pian del Graffer, you can stop for something to eat (Boch mountain hut) or continue up to the pass with the second section. At the top, there are fully accessible places to eat, where you can also stay overnight (Stoppani mountain hut) so you can enjoy the views at different times of the day and night. The cable car cabins are accessible and can carry pushchairs, mountain bikes and wheelchairs. The ticket office and entrance to the cable car are both on flat ground, on the same level as the street. Once at the Grostè Pass, exiting the cable car presents no particular problems.
