The itinerary goes through the Giaf Valley, in the very heart of the large amphitheatre created by Monfalconi di Forni and Crìdola, the most famous and dramatic groups in the “Dolomiti Friulane e d’Oltre Piave” of the UNESCO Dolomites. It runs along the Giaf mountain stream and ventures into a pristine natural environment with a beautiful beech and Norway spruce wood which opens up onto the clearing where the mountain hut is located, with beech trees giving way to larch. It is quite rare to find a site in this harsh yet fascinating part of the Dolomites that is so accessible and affords such a close-up view at the foot of Crìdola and Monfalconi di Forni.
