The whole route lies in a wood of beech and fir trees and climbs to the beautiful, large grassy Selvapiana hollow where the Lunelli mountain hut is located.

Here it opens up onto a marvellous view over the awe-inspiring Popèra mountain chain, which belongs to the “Dolomiti Settentrionali” system of the UNESCO Dolomites.

The clearing, with its gentle incline and easy access, marks the gateway to the World Heritage Site from the Comelico valley. The landscape is typical of the Dolomites, with its gentle forms at the base, characteristic of the cultural landscape associated with mountain farming, and the part above which is decidedly more rugged and wild, namely the natural landscape.
